What a lovely afternoon with excellent food, service, organisation (Lisa and Gary taking everything in their stride), friends (old and new) and a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you Druid's Heath and thank you members of WRTA and their family and friends for helping to make it a meal to remember.

MONDAY, 21st NOVEMBER 2023 - 'A TALK, TOUR AND MEAL AT THE BARTONS ARMS PUB, BIRMINGHAM. 7.00pm.
It was an excellent night, 15 of us went and enjoyed a talk about the history of the Bartons Arms and its link with Laurel and Hardy and other entertainers. The talk and tour of this magnificent pub lasted about an hour and then on to a 2 course Thai meal - delicious. John Ullah, who was our 'host' was easy to listen to and very knowledgeable, will be talking to the WRTA in 2023.
Everyone agreed it was a good evening out!
Wednesday, 26th October - Winter Meal at Druid's Heath GC 12.00 for 12.30
Hiccups aside we had a wonderful luncheon and afternoon. The staff were brilliant and so accommodating and cheery. The food was excellent - as always! Gary, the chef is always willing to go the extra mile for his guests. What would we do without him. The atmosphere was lovely, warm, friendly and noisy. Lisa is the new Bar and Food Manager and is very good at her job. She was at Calderfields before so she knows what she is doing. She will be a great asset at Druid's Heath. We wish her well.
Monday, 13th June 2022 - Jubilee themed meeting (after the Speaker). Jubilee cakes, Jubilee flowers and flags and a Super Raffle of Jubilee themed prizes.

Tuesday, 29th March - 46th Anniversary Meal at Druids Heath GC, Aldridge
A wonderful time was had by all - I can honestly say that the atmosphere was warm, inviting and merry. The food - courtesy of Gary the Chef - was delicious - not one complaint, just plaudits. The staff were, as always, wonderfully professional and helpful. Well done Druid's Heath! See you in October. Jan F won the 'Goody Bag' Raffle and was delighted with it. All her favourites! Just in time for Easter.
14th March 2o22 - AGM and Scone tea! - This was really tasty! No, not the AGM, just the scones!
Tuesday, 29th March - 46th Anniversary Meal - Druids Heath Golf Club. 12.00 for 12.30. £24 Includes Meal, staff tip and 'Goody Basket' Raffle.
Tuesday, 30th April - 43rd Anniversary Meal -Druids Heath GC
The day was wonderful! The weather was certainly lovely. Our meal was delicious! The service was excellent - friendly and not obtrusive. Jeanette's watchful eye made sure everyone was happy.
Unfortunately, the Mayor was unable to attend due to a chest infection but the Mayoress was able to attend. I really think she wanted to come to see her father-in-law sing!
We had 'The Three Tenners' to entertain us with songs like - Volare, Can you feel the love tonight, Sway, Dimmi, Quando, Quando, Quando. etc. Mario, Alan and Antonio made sure we had a good time - encouraging us to join in with the songs we knew. At times they made us laugh! We thank them for joining us for the event, especially as they had no time to practice altogether.
Wed. 25th April 2018 - 42nd ANNIVERSARY MEAL at Druids Heath Golf Club and Geoff Tristram (remember his talk at our Christmas Buffet afternoon?)
A good time was had by all!
We had a wonderful meal at the Druids Heath Golf club on April 25th at our Anniversary lunch followed by an entertaining talk by Geoff Tristram .We had seen and heard Geoff at a previous lunch so we knew we would not be disappointed. He is a talented artist as well as a most entertaining speaker. The slides came thick and fast.He gave us little time to read some of them. The errors he showed made us laugh but sometimes it took a moment for the penny to drop!
I do hope we will get the opportunity to hear him again at another of our events.
It is always good to hear a speaker of this calibre. It rounded off a most enjoyable Anniversary lunch.

CHRISTMAS MEAL AT DRUIDS HEATH GOLF CLUB-6th December 2017.
What a lovely afternoon! The atmosphere was great and so was the company. People had lovely things to say about the food. We have booked for April 25th 2018 - members will be asked if they want to continue with Druids Heath or try somewhere else for our December 2018 meal - nothing is ever set in stone! Let one of the Exec. Committee know your views.
26th APRIL 2017 - 41st ANNIVERSARY MEAL - DRUIDS HEATH GOLF CLUB, ALDRIDGE
What a wonderful afternoon!
Those who weren't there missed a treat!
We tried a different venue and were made very welcome. It was quite a large gathering of 56 members and friends. The food and service were excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. After the meal we were entertained by Derek Poulson who gave a very interesting and amusing presentation on the history of British dialects. What a brilliant speaker!
A most enjoyable afternoon!

We have an Anniversary meal in April and a Pre-Christmas meal every year. These are held at local hotels and restaurants.
At our Christmas meeting we have a buffet prepared by all Committee members and a few members. We always say it gets better every year. Jean's Pavlova is always a delicious hit and is the first to go from the dessert table. We have asked her to do 3 but it hasn't happened yet! (I am in a lot of trouble for mentioning this........... Jan is very cross about it as she will struggle to get a slice of the Pavlova with everyone else rushing to the table!!!! Sorry, Jan).
At our AGM, in March, we have a 'Scone Tea' which is always well attended and a chance to catch up with all the news!

Lord Leycester Hospital, Warwick
We had a super day with a guided tour by 'The Master'.
A definite 'must visit' place.
The Hospital is an historic group of timber-framed buildings on Warwick High Street dating mainly from the late 14th Century clustered round the Norman gateway into the town with its 12th Century Chantry Chapel above it. For nearly 200 years it was home to Warwick’s medieval Guilds.
In the reign of Queen Elizabeth I it became, under the patronage of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, a place of retirement for old warriors known as the Brethren. The Brethren and Master, who still live within the walls of the building, are a living legacy of almost 450 years of history. Every morning they meet in the Chapel and pray together the words their founder Robert Dudley set down. You can often see the Brethren in ceremonial uniform as they give tours through the buildings and gardens.
The beautiful Master’s Garden, open all year, features a pineapple pit and a 2,000 year old “nilometer”, used in ancient Egypt to measure the height of the Nile. Adjacent to it is the Knot Garden with its design and symbolism echoing Tudor times.
